About

I'm a science teacher and earth systems scientist based in Oakland, CA. I'm interested in people and places and the systems that connect us across scales, from leaf to landscape. When I'm not in a classroom you'll generally find me running the local trails and monkeying around the climbing gym.

Earlier in my career I worked at the intersection of science, policy, and communications: building data visualizations for climate research organizations, doing field ecology in the desert Southwest and Hawai'i, and modeling carbon offset projects. That mix of science, storytelling, and design still shapes how I teach.
