About
I'm a science teacher and earth systems scientist based in Oakland, CA. I'm interested in how the natural world works — from plate tectonics and atmosphere to the ecosystems in my own backyard — and I try to bring that curiosity into the classroom.
Outside of teaching I spend time on photography, maps and place history, and the occasional internet rabbit hole. I have a soft spot for Burning Man, Volkswagens, and the Bay Area in general.
Earlier in my career I worked at the intersection of science, policy, and communications — building data visualizations for climate research organizations, doing field ecology in Hawai'i, and running carbon offset projects. That mix of science, storytelling, and design still shapes how I teach.
